USC AND EMERGENT MEDICAL ASSOCIATES AWARD TINA WU, M.D. THE INAUGURAL EMA / USC ADMINISTRATIVE FELLOWSHIP IN EMERGENCY MEDICINE

March 1, 2007 (Los Angeles, CA) Emergent Medical Associates (“EMA”) and the Department of Emergency Medicine of the Keck School of Medicine are proud to announce that they have awarded the Fellowship in Emergency Medicine to Dr. Tina Wu. Dr. Wu is currently completing her residency in Emergency Medicine at New York University Medical Center/Bellevue Hospital Center in New York, NY.

“We are very excited to name Dr. Wu as the first EMA USC Fellow. She was a clear standout in a pool of well qualified applicants in a very competitive process,” said Dr. Scott Brewster, Medical Director at EMA. “She represents the ideal physician to be the inaugural fellow in this program.”

This fellowship represents a truly unique opportunity for me to build on my clinical experience, earn an advanced degree and learn the skills necessary to be an administrative leader,” said, Dr. Wu. “I look forward to working and learning from the innovative team at EMA.”

Dr. Wu received her Bachelors Degree and Graduate Degree from New York University and her Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Buffalo. She is currently the Resident Trauma Director at NYU/Bellevue and her teaching experience at NYU/Bellevue includes being the Morning Report Case Based Discussion Lecturer, Resident Education Lectures including Blunt Trauma, Shock and Resuscitation, Vertigo, Trauma Conference: Non-operative Management of Blunt Abdominal Trauma, Morbidity, and Mortality conference. She is also an Assistant Instructor of Advanced Cardiac Life Support at the Emergency Care Institute at Bellevue Hospital. Her affiliations include the Emergency Medicine Resident’s Association, American College of Emergency Physicians, American Medical Association, and Society for Academic Emergency Medicine.

About the Department of Emergency Medicine of the Keck School of Medicine The department is located at the LAC+USC Medical Center. This historic hospital, formerly known as County General Hospital, is home to one of the US’ oldest and largest residency training programs for Emergency Physicians, dating back to 1971. It is now a PGII-IV program training 54 residents. The department is responsible for 400-500 patients visits daily who present with the complete spectrum of adult medical and surgical problems.
