Health and Wellness Screening

Screening programs are an important part of preventive medicine. It is well known that by testing (or screening) patients for certain diseases they may be detected at an early stage, often before you have any symptoms. A further benefit of this screening is that through the education that is derived through the testing process a patient is given the opportunity to make changes that will lower the chance that they will ever have the disease. They are valuable because your quality of life can be greatly improved; the physical, emotional, and economic costs of disease can be greatly reduced; and there exists very effective and acceptable treatments. Based on recommendations by the U.S. Preventative Services Task Force, screening for blood pressure, cervical cancer, colorectal cancer, prostate cancer, breast cancer, and elevated cholesterol are recommended for all persons and are further discussed below.
